Black Lightning season 2 spoilers: Major Crimes alum set to recur
According to a new report via Deadline, Kearran Giovanni (who played Amy Sykes on the series for many years) is going to be recurring on the CW superhero drama in the role of Cutter, who is described as a “smart, proud, tough and beautiful woman more than able to best a man in combat — a mercenary trained by British intelligence.” This is an interesting role, and we like that it will give Giovanni an opportunity to do something that is very much different from what she did from Major Crimes.
Black Lightning season 2 is premiering on The CW this fall, and this is going to be the first time that we’re going to be seeing the show in October. This marks an opportunity to see how the show fares when given this opportunity — it’s still not a part of the Arrowverse, but we know that it doesn’t really need that in order to be a successful superhero show.
Will we get to see Giovanni do battle against Jefferson himself? That’s something that we’ll have to wait and see on, but that potential is almost always there.
Major Crimes ended on TNT earlier this year after a lengthy run of six seasons; for Giovanni, there is a perfectly good chance that this could lead to some other exciting opportunities coming up at some point down the road. We’ll just have to wait and see.
