NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 2 photo: Is Deeks back at work?
The image above showcases Deeks and Kensi back out in the field doing some of what they do best — kicking butt, taking names, and solving crimes. Yet, if you think back to some of the material that is out there for season 10 episode 1, it’s pretty clear in some of it that this is a guy who is very much worse for wear. While Deeks may be in many ways a miracle man in how he’s been able to survive some near-death experiences in the past, he’s not superhuman and can’t just jump back to work right after what he goes through in Mexico. With that, it’s fair to say that the show is moving forward and jumping up to somewhere closer to real-time.

If you are a diehard fan of the NCIS franchise, there is a reasonably good chance that you knew this very thing was going to happen eventually in the first place. Time jumps are a common occurrence here, as the shows like to run in real time so that they can do holiday-themed episodes and other things that relate to what viewers are experiencing in the real world. Sometimes we see them flexible enough for the first episode or two to sick back in the past and deal with a cliffhanger, but eventually after that they move on and take on some other challenges in the present.
In the end, the important thing here is that if you love Deeks and Kensi working out in the field together, NCIS: Los Angeles is clearly not going to make you wait that long in order to see it.
