Criminal Minds season 14 to explore fully characters’ personal lives

Criminal Minds season 13

For those of you out there who were hoping Criminal Minds season 14 would be more personal, you’re in luck! One of the things that we’ve long wanted from the CBS series is that it spends a little bit more time with some of the show’s characters away from work, and it now seems as though they are listening to that request. They may have taken their time, but better late than never with this sort of thing, right?

Speaking on this particular subject via Variety, show executive Erica Messer had the following to say about making the stories even more personal than we’ve had a chance to see in the past:

“Season 14 will explore more of a work/life balance for the team —unlike in years past, each episode will touch base with our heroes’ home [lives].”

There has already been some evidence that this is an approach that the writers have been wanting to take moving into the new season. For example, we know that we’re going to see Matt Simmons’ wife back on the series, and there were recently some suggestions that we’d get to see more of David Rossi’s romantic life. Now, all we need is to learn a little bit more news when it comes to Emily Prentiss away from work and we’ll be in great shape!

Criminal Minds season 14 will be premiering later this year, but rest assured that we’re going to have plenty more news leading up to it. Regardless of whether or not this ends up being the final season, it’s going to be the most personal one you’ve had a chance to see to date.
