Glee, Supergirl alum Blake Jenner joins Netflix’s ambitious What/If series

For those of you who loved Blake Jenner and his work on Glee or his brief stint on Supergirlyou’ll like the following news.

Late this week, it was confirmed by Netflix that Jenner is joining Renee Zellweger and Jane Levy in What/If, the upcoming series from Revenge alum Mike Kelley. Described as a “social thriller,” the series “explores the ripple effects of what happens when acceptable people start doing unacceptable things. Each season will tackle a different morality tale inspired by culturally consequential source material, and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life.” That’s a pretty abstract view of a show since it can mean so many different things; yet, that does allow the show to explore a lot of different dimensions if it comes back for multiple seasons.

At the moment, there isn’t much known about Jenner’s character other than that he will be playing Sean. This could be a role that helps him to break out more as a lead; in the film world, he has received some praise from both The Edge of Seventeen as well as Everybody Wants Some. We still remember him most from his appearance on The Glee Project, which he was on for the second season and he ended up winning.

We don’t expect What/If to be on the air anytime soon (think 2019, at the earliest), but you can go ahead and add this to the list of programs to be excited about in the next year and a half. We certainly know that there are a lot of different shows with great potential over at Netflix — which there almost always is at this point. The streaming service just has a more robust lineup than almost anyone.
