Watch premieres for Jim Carrey’s Kidding, God Friended Me online early
If you don’t want to wait for the premieres of Kidding as well as God Friended Me, you’re in luck — Showtime and CBS have decided to make these episodes available online early.
For Kidding, it’s premium cable, so be sure to be aware of that content-wise before you opt to check it out. There’s a lot to like about this show on paper, starting with the fact that it is re-teaming Jim Carrey with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry. Carrey plays a children’s television star named Jeff Pickles who bears witness to the crumbling of his life. Even though it may technically be a comedy, don’t expect it to have you rolling on the floor all of the time. There’s a lot of sadness in this show and it could be one of Carrey’s best performances in quite some time. We do like dramatic Jim Carrey when he gets the right roles, so hopefully this delivers in the long-term.
As for God Friended Me, you can watch the entire premiere (provided that you’re in America) via Twitter below. This series stars Brandon Michael Hall of The Mayor as Miles Finer, an “outspoken atheist whose life is turned upside down when he receives a friend request on social media from “God” and unwittingly becomes an agent of change in the lives and destinies of others around him.” While religion is going to obviously be a part of this show, we don’t think that it’s going to be a series just for Christians. We think it’s more about trying to give hope to those who need it, and it’s a positive show that is designed to be a light in dark times — that’s a theme we’re seeing for many shows this year. It feels like we’re moving away slightly from aggressively-dark series to focus on other things.
