Fear the Walking Dead season 4 ratings drop after Kim Dickens exit
Well, based on the numbers from Sunday night, it does appear that this is the case — though you could also cite natural ratings erosion as a factor. Sunday’s episode generated around 1.88 million viewers, which is the smallest viewer figure that we’ve seen for the series to date (at least in terms of live viewing). It posted a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is the second-lowest total we’ve seen for the series.
While we do think that losing Madison is a big factor in some viewers losing interest, we do think that there is one other fundamental problem for Fear the Walking Dead at the moment: The simple fact that the show doesn’t feel like the same one that viewers were watching even a year ago. While it is natural for there to be some cast turnover, the amount that this series has had is rather startling. Alycia Debnam-Carey and Colman Domingo are the only two actors from the first season still featured prominently. We know that Daniel Salazar is presumably still out there, but there is no word at the moment as to when Ruben Blades will return or even if he will. We just know that this character remains one of the most interesting people within this world.
Before making too many judgments that Fear the Walking Dead is about to become walker chow, let’s just wait and see what the quality of many of the upcoming episodes turns out to be. That should give us a good chance to gauge just how excited we should be for the future.

During S3 Fear has not only found it’s steps and developed one of the best material in the history of both FTWD/TWD, but also gained solid group of fans who loved the direction of the series, and provided a steady raitings and level of viewership. And yet, Gimple decided to do this absurdal crossover, bring in one of the worst character in the history of TWD, change every single aspect of Fear and kill two beloved characters (yeas, Madison was loved by many, me included) in the matter of 8 episodes. Effects? Not only they didn’t get more viewers but also alienated the core group of fans. So they literally lost twice.

The ratings were steady in season 3, and are dropping this season. They can change their mind about season 5, or make it an abbreviated season. Loyal FTWD fans are leaving and the TWD-only fans aren’t coming over. The crossover was a bust.

What would they expect? Kill off the main character and get away with it? Well no. The show has hit its lowest viewership ever after Madison’s death.
Bring her back!

Ratings are down cause the mystery of what happened to Madison and the kids was over. Even so, last week’s ratings were steady in the demo with the mid season final.

Fear lost ratings in season 3 and Madison was considered to be the worse character on the show by many fans. So much so that articles were written about how unlikeable she was. Stop trying to rewrite history

Yeah Madison died and the episode after her exit got the lowest viewership ever on the show.
You need to go dream elsewhere, Felicia.
Ratings speak for itself. And oh, I love Madison, and so many others love her too. Guess you didnt pay attention to that. You only paid attention to the negative comments, cuz you’re a Felicia thats why.

Ratings are down all over genius and they started with season 3 with Madison for this show.

The ratings only dropped from season 1 to season 2. They held steady in season 3, which was also arguably the best season out of either of the “dead” shows. Depsite all that, it was still AMC’s 2nd rated show behind the original and held its own with other cable shows. AMC wanted more and decided to do the crossover, which so far has been very unpopular with the fans. Fans were hyped about season 4 due to how good season 3 was. The Walking Dead audience didn’t cross over to watch like they expected, and alienated the fear-only fans in the process. Expect the ratings to sink even lower, and possibly an abbreviated, or no, season 5.

The ratings had dropped in season 3 and the show has been renewed for a full season 5.

Hmmm, no. for one, the demo is the same as the mid season final and second, the mid season final was the end of the mystery of what happened to Madison. Of course it was going to be bigger than the mid season opener. Ether way, the show is the top show of Sunday and the show was already losing viewers with Madison on it, that is why they got rid of her and most of the boring cast.

Hm, no honey. Fear season 3 finally managed to capture and maintain a stable audience, and the decision to reboot the series was made after filming season 2, which was BEFORE season 3 premiered and was so acclaimed by fans.
Killing off Madison was a mistake. She was easily the fastest growing, most complex character in Fear. She had layers, she struggled with her perception of morality in a post apocalyptic setting, and she was a loving, but vicious mother figure. If you think Kim was a bad actress, or Madison was a boring character, please take a class and learn how to analyze cinematography.

Hmmm, no buddy. “FEAR” lost ratings in it’s 3rd season. And Madison was the most hated character on the show, so much so that there were articles written on how frustrating she was as a character and that she should have been killed off. For one, learn how to read, cause i never attacked Kim Dickens in any way, only the character she’s was playing and second, stop trying to rewrite history, the character of Madison was hated by a great deal of people and the ratings for season 3 were so bad that they needed to do the crossover with the other show in order for people to notice “Fear” again and get people talking. If you do not like that, then that’s your problem. It already been renewed for a season 5, like it or not.

Freddy, you’re either stupid or you are trolling. Look what you just said. ”The ratings for season 3 were so bad that they needed to do the crossover with other show in order for people to notice Fear again and get people talking”
Lol, the ratings of season 4 haven’t been much bigger than season 3 ratings, in fact, season 4 has some of its lowest ratings ever on the show, Like episode 7 and 9.
So keep on trolling, mr. Troll. Anyway you’re a TWD fan who’s here because of stickman boring Morgan so your opinion is troll so no one cares get a life.

Well Era D, the “IRONY” of you calling anyone a troll when all you do is post insults when someone does not like what you like is truly amazing. For one, i never claimed that season 4 ratings were better, only said that they needed to get rid of Madison and other boring cast members from the show cause the ratings were going down. And they did do the crossover to get people talking again about “Fear” and it worked. Whether you like it or not, those are facts. So again, if you not like that, not my problem, so grow up.

And the decision to reboot the series came after season 3.

The.Rating.Were.Not.Going.Down.In.Season.3. The ratings stabilized in season 3. The decision to get rid of Erickson and reboot was made prior to season 3 because AMC has no patience. And even so, FTWD was still their second highest rated show. It still is now, but just barely. The ratings will drop further because nobody likes season 4.
