Fear the Walking Dead, Better Call Saul renewed by AMC for season 5

Better Call Saul season 4

How about this for some great news regarding a pair of successful AMC series? Today, the network announced while at TCA that Fear the Walking Dead and Better Call Saul have been renewed for a fifth season.

Is this news exciting? Absolutely it is, just because with this, you’ve got confirmation that they are giving these two shows plenty of time in order to plot out some of their future stories. With Better Call Saul, you’re seeing this renewal announced before the fourth season even premieres — that’s really a testament to the show’s quality.

When it comes to Better Call Saul, we don’t think that there was really any question as to whether or not the show was going to be coming back. It always was, mostly because we’re talking here about one of the most-successful programs on AMC and also one that is critically acclaimed. We know that AMC is going to want to see that story throughout however long it lasts.

As for Fear the Walking Dead, there was a time circa season 2 when we wondered whether or not the show would make it here as it went through its fair share of creative struggles. However, ever since then we’ve really seen it stabilize and find more of an audience for itself. We would even argue that the past two seasons have been better than The Walking Dead proper — though we do say that with us still being somewhat upset over what happened at the end of the Fear the Walking Dead midseason finale. How could they do that to Madison? Suffice it to say, we’re still rather bummed-out about that.

We anticipate that the new seasons for both of these shows will start in 2019, though with Better Call Saul there’s no guarantee given that there was such a long hiatus between season 2 and 3.
