Legacies trailer: First look at The Originals spin-off, featuring Hope!
In the trailer below (via TVLine), you get an introduction to the series via Hope Mikaelson herself (Danielle Rose Russell), as she talks about the Salvatore School and its role within the town of Mystic Falls. It feels a good bit like Xavier’s school in X-Men or even Hogwarts in that it’s a place secluded from the outside world, and a place that allows some of its students to be itself. There’s a little bit of magic and other things taught, but at the same time there’s also just an effort made to ensure that these characters have something resembling normal lives.
Does it feel like there’s a lot of teen angst coming? Sure, and you’re also going to get grown-up versions of Alaric and Caroline’s daughters. You’ll see Hope continue to make mistakes, and then also come to terms with the fact that there is no one else in the world quite like her. She’s going to forge a connection with someone in Landon, who you are going to meet on Wednesday night’s new episode of The Originals.
Ultimately, there may actually be a rather-large component to this trailer that is deceptive in that much of it could be coming from The Originals, coupled with some promotional photos put together for the show itself. Filming on the series only technically began a couple of days ago. With that, there’s not too much in the way of footage that the creative team can really put together at the moment. Regardless, we do think that there’s hope for this show, but they’re going to need to find viewers beyond just those who watched the two previous shows to succeed.
