Agents of SHIELD season 6: Clark Gregg directing premiere; Jeff Ward promoted
Let’s start with what has come out via Twitter: Clark Gregg is directing the upcoming premiere episode! The title for the installment is “Missing Pieces,” and it is also being written by executive producers Jed Shedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. That’s an interesting title for the show, one that does bring to mind Infinity War and what could be missing on the other side of that. This may not be intentionally a reference to anything, but we certainly have questions galore regarding both the season 6 timeline and also how Coulson could still be a part of it given his state at the end of season 5. How many times can Phil really cheat death? We feel like this is a question that Marvel wants us to have rolling around in our brain.
Ultimately, much of this may be resolved in due time — given that season 6 is not premiering until the summer, it does feel like we really shouldn’t be in any hurry with anything. Granted, even if Agents of SHIELD season 6 was premiering this fall, we’d have a really hard time thinking that the producers would be altogether liberal when it comes to sharing stuff. That’s just not something that is really in their DNA and they love it when this show is as secretive as humanly possible.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly is also confirming now that Jeff Ward, who plays Deke on the series, is going to continue to be a part of the show — this time as a series regular! His future is very much interesting to us given the changes to the timeline, but we’ll see how things play out.
