Insatiable: New Netflix series starring Disney Channel alum Debby Ryan premieres August 10

“Insatiable is a dark, twisted revenge comedy starring Debby Ryan, Dallas Roberts, and Alyssa Milano. For years, Patty (Debby Ryan) has been bullied, ignored, and underestimated by those around her because of her weight. But now that she finds herself suddenly thin, Patty is out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself. Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts), a disgraced attorney whose true passion is coaching beauty pageant contestant, is the only one who sees Patty’s potential, and takes her under his wing — first as a legal client, and then as a pageant contestant whom he coaches toward becoming the top pageant queen in the country. But Bob and his wife Coralee (Alyssa Milano) have no idea how deep Patty’s rage goes, or how far she will go to exact revenge on anyone who has ever wronged her. Bullies beware: payback’s a bitch, revenge is sweet, and if you cross Patty, you’ll be her next treat.”
After reading the synopsis we have so many emotions. The series is described as a comedy with a dark turn and that right off the bat intrigues us. There are many comedies out there and there are a few dark comedies, but they aren’t as well-known. Most of them are overshadowed by the fan-favorites and award nominated ones, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t just as good. As we read through it, we wanted to know more. The series centers around a girl previously bullied for her weight. Now that she is skinny and she takes her journey to the pageant world, and we love that. The pageant world is known for it’s skinny, glamorous, and beautiful girls, and now a girl once bullied by those kind of girls is going to compete in one of their contests. It’s great!
This is the kind of show that can be both funny and intense. Patty, as you can imagine, has a lot of rage toward people and how far she will go to destroy them is limitless. This new series could scare us one second and then make us laugh the next, and that is something not many people experience while watching television.
