Nashville season 6: Charles Esten lands new post-show gig

Following his time on Nashville season 6, it appears as though Charles Esten already has himself a new gig on cable.

Per a new report coming in via Deadline, the actor (who played Deacon for the bulk of the series) is now set to recur on the upcoming TNT series Tell Me Your Secrets, which features a pretty wonderful cast including American Horror Story star Lily Rabe plus Amy Brenneman and Hamish Linklater. Per the aforemention publication, the series is described as “an intense, morally complex thriller. It revolves around a trio of characters, each with a mysterious and troubling past: Emma (Rabe) is a young woman who once looked into the eyes of a dangerous killer, John (Linklater) is a former serial predator desperate to find redemption, and Mary (Brenneman) is a grieving mother obsessed with finding her missing daughter. As each of them is pushed to the edge, the truth about their pasts and motives grows ever murkier, blurring the lines between victim and perpetrator.”

Meanwhile, Esten is going to appear in the series as a grieving father by the name of Saul Barrow, someone who has tried to move away from the material world in order to better cope with losing his daughter. He is the husband of Brenneman’s character, someone who remains determined to bring back her daughter at all costs. All signs point towards this being an incredibly emotional show and one that could give Esten a chance to show off some acting chops.

While Charles has appeared on Big Love and some other series during his acting career, there is a part of us that will always connect to him, in some shape or form, from his time on the Drew Carey-hosted Whose Line Is It Anyway? from so many years ago.
