Suits season 8 debate: Should Neal McDonough return as Sean Cahill?
We’ve already seen Cahill in a couple of different roles, but what’s also exciting about him as a character is that his role with the firm really fluctuates depending on what’s going on. There are times in which he serves as an ally to Harvey Specter and the rest of the team, but there’s also been some times in which he’s a clear adversary. He’s just trying to do his job and when his interests align with some other characters, they can find a way in order to work together … even though it’s not like the interests really align all that much.
Also, one of the other benefits of getting Sean Cahill on board comes in the form of Neal McDonough. The actor recently wrapped his time as Damien Darhk on Legends of Tomorrow, and over on that she he probably showed to a new generation of people some of his skills. While he is capable of being the wily, maniacal bad guy, he also does have an ability to play softer, more tender scenes in the midst of all of the intensity. He’s one of the most multifaceted actors within the Suits world, and the great thing about this show is that there are always going to be new clients and new crises. With that in mind, it definitely feels as though there is always going to be a new opportunity for Cahill to rear his head. We’d love a few more episodes with the character — he’s a great foil for Gabriel Macht and beyond that, his presence almost always means challenges for the firm.
