What the latest The Walking Dead season 9 sighting means
Still with us? Then let’s talk about the idea that Jon Bernthal may be coming back for another stretch of appearances as Shane. According to a report from ComicBook.com, the actor has been spotted around the Atlanta area as of late, not too far from where the series films. While he has not been seen on set, production at this point has things fairly well-guarded and they are probably doing what they can in order to ensure that nothing gets scooped in advance. (The appearance of Bernthal already makes that difficult.) We have a hard time believing that the actor is just fluttering around the area for the heck of it, so there is a reasonable good chance that there is a little bit of fire to go along with some of this smoke.
As for how we could be seeing Shane, it feels obvious that it would need to happen in the form of a flashback. Going back into the past at the moment does make a certain degree of sense, especially since Andrew Lincoln is departing at some point during the season, per reports. This will allow the show a chance to really look at the full juourney of this character and how he went from being where he was in the first couple of the seasons to where he is right now. Beyond a flashback, the only other reasonable explanation is a dream sequence since we hardly expect to see Bernthal suddenly rise from the ground alive.
The Walking Dead season 9 is going to be set to premiere on AMC come this fall.
