Power season 5 will feature big, super-secret guest star

Just in case you were not excited enough for Power season 5 to start airing on Starz come July 1, know this: The series has a big surprise that it is building up to. At some point over the course of the upcoming batch of episodes, you are going to get a chance to see a big, notable guest star! It’s someone that the show is keeping under wraps for right now, and we imagine that it’s someone who will make many people excited!

Speaking to TVLine, show boss Courtney Kemp teased that this upcoming guest is on the level of Anika Noni Rose (Jukebox) from last season, and that there’s going to be a level of surprise to seeing them:

“We have a huge special guest coming … It’s a level like that. It’s so big. It’s going to be this giant, big splash. People are going to be bowled over at the performance — it’s not just who it is, it’s the level of the performance. The performance is sick.”

There are a couple of different ways to look at this. Maybe it’s someone who is doing something to what they’ve done in the past, only on a completely different level. Or, maybe it’s possible that we are seeing someone stop by who is from far outside the acting world and is doing something that is a complete and total surprise. Maybe it’s just someone going against type. No matter the reason, this is something to be psyched about — Power has always been great with their casting, whether it be bringing on board familiar faces or surprises like the late, great Charlie Murphy for that stint last season.

Beyond the mystery guest, we know there is some great story to come, including seeing Ghost re-team with Tommy and Kanan, at least at first, with Dre sitting on the metaphorical throne on the other side.
