A Sherlock escape room is officially coming to London
According to the Mirror, show executive producer Sue Vertue has worked on helping to design the 17,000 square feet escape room alongside showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The team from Time Run is also involved in making sure that you feel like Sherlock Holmes as you solve a mystery and, potentially, make it out with your head on straight. There are special video and audio elements incorporated in the room featuring characters from the show.
In a statement, Josh Ford of Time Run had the following to say about the goal of the experience.
“Suddenly you are in Sherlock’s shoes … We’re going to empower you to think like Sherlock and be the hero in your own real-life episode of the TV series.”
Meanwhile, Moffat and Gatiss added the following:
“We can’t wait to try out these brilliant, mind-bending puzzles and – try to – prove we know what we’re talking about! Helping out Sherlock on an actual case is what we always dreamed of doing and now is our chance – even if he doesn’t want idiots as colleagues…”
While we certainly know an interactive experience in London isn’t going to satisfy the millions of fans wanting some more Sherlock season 5 news, we do view this as a sign that there is still plenty of interest in the property from the creative team. Unfortunately, we do still think that the next season of the show is coming pretty far down the road. We can already imagine already many a Sherlock fan teaming up with their friends in order to figure out if they can unravel this puzzle — we do hope that it is challenging, mostly because we want to think that Sherlock himself would have a little bit of trouble with this.
