The Sinner season 2 promo highlights Ambrose’s new journey

The sinner season 2

Leading up to the premiere of The Sinner season 2, many of the videos that CarterMatt has shared have been of the teaser variety — they’ve given you a sense of the show’s visual aesthetic, but not necessarily all that much when it comes to the actual plot.

However, that has now somewhat changed thanks in part to the video that we have for you below. This clip highlights the entire story at the heart of the new season, one that is going to emotionally devastate Ambrose (Bill Pullman) in ways that the Cora case did not. The biggest difference here with this case is that it takes him back to his hometown in rural New York — this is a place that holds a close connection to his heart, so finding out the truth about the darkness that lies underneath could be especially devastating for him. It’s almost akin to learning that your hero is not who you thought that they were.

Much of the darkness around this town will manifest itself through the season’s primary case of a young boy accused of murdering his own parents. There is no clear evidence of a motive, but there wasn’t one with Cora in the first season either. It is because of what Ambrose did in that first investigation that makes him the perfect person to take a closer look at this case. He understands that nothing is precisely as it seems and there are times and reasons in which a picture is a little muddy.

The Sinner season 2 premieres on USA August 1, as the photo above indicates. Given the strength of the first season and the performance by Jessica Biel during it, it feels fair to say that season 2 has its work cut out for it trying to match that story in terms of quality.
