The Arrangement canceled by E!; no season 3 coming
In a new statement (via Deadline), a representative for the network had the following to say about the show coming to a close:
Over two seasons, E!’s scripted series The Arrangement has taken viewers inside the world of an A-list movie star filled with secrets, scandal and romance. While we have decided not to move forward with the series, we are incredibly grateful to the cast and our production partners.
In some ways, you could argue that the decision to cancel the series was somewhat predictable — after all, the ratings for the second season were down pretty significantly from the first season, and when you consider the stable of high-rated unscripted programming that they have, there isn’t necessarily any demand that E! has to pick up scripted programming.
At the moment, the future is currently unclear in regards to one of the network’s other scripted shows in The Royals, which has weathered the departure of its showrunner in the midst of sexual misconduct allegations. If that show ends up getting canceled, then it is very well possible that E! will not have any scripted shows on the air at all. With that in mind, there are still some other scripted shows in development.
As for whether or not there is any hope that The Arrangement lives on elsewhere, we’ll let you know as soon as there is some more news to report — for now, though, we would say to not hold your breath. We’re certainly bummed for all of the show’s fans, given that there was the potential for a lot of juicy drama coming up in the years to come.
