The Sinner season 2 teaser promo: A face and a siren

Sinner

USA has released yet another teaser regarding The Sinner season 2 and with it, you’ve got another sense of the discomfort at the heart of this case.

If you have not heard just yet, the accused this season is none other than a young boy accused of killing his parents — feeling uncomfortable already? Well, you should given that this is a very uncomfortable case. Harry Ambrose is going to be heading out towards his former hometown to try and figure out just what happened and why this boy would do such a thing — it’s fairly understandable at this point as to why he would be called on, mostly because he is one of the few with actual knowledge and understanding of how to handle this sort of situation.

However, nothing in this case is going to be as you would imagine … which shouldn’t come as a shock given that this is very much the fabric of The Sinner as a series. We learned from the first season that a better understanding of why someone killed someone else is just as interesting as your traditional whodunnit, especially when you get into the whole notion of exploring human psychology. Bill Pullman is also fantastic as Ambrose and he should work as a great entry point moving into season 2 — even for some people out there who are not altogether familiar with the first season.

The Sinner will return to USA a little bit later this summer and our hope is that it can (somehow) match what we saw the first season. That’s not going to be easy, though, especially since there isn’t a great history as of late of limited series coming back for a second season and matching the quality of what came before. For example, take a look over at True Detective.
