The latest Lucifer season 4 renewal update: The campaign continues
For starters, series star Tom Ellis continues to do his part to campaign through a series of different press interviews. You can see his chat with KTLA below if you haven’t already, and in a new interview with the Radio Times he also details why a streaming service seems to be the right fit for the show at this particular point in time — and also why he is so eager to fight for more episodes:
“The response has spurred me on to at least go, ‘OK, well I’m going to go and take part in these conversations’. When you spend so much time working on something it’s hard not to be passionate about it, certainly for me, and the producers want to harness my passion for it and take it around because it’s helpful for them.”
Ellis also says in the interview that he wasn’t disappointed by The CW choosing to not pick up the show, as he never expected that it to happen and it didn’t seem to be the “right fit” based on what he’s learned about the business.
What’s next?
Keep fighting the good fight! We’ve discussed the most likely contenders at this point being a streaming provider like Hulu or the upcoming DC Universe service — someone who can have a vested interest in the show and really want to see it succeed. Hulu has some investment already as an exclusive streaming home. We know that there have been a lot of questions as of late about how a Hulu pickup would impact the show internationally, and our response to that is fairly simple: It wouldn’t. Lucifer can still be licensed out wherever depending on negotiations. We know that it stinks for international outlets to be so dependent on what happens with Lucifer in America, but finding a new stateside home is the first domino that needs to fall.
As of last night there was still optimism — take a look at the message from executive producer Ildy Modrovich below. There are still no guarantees and it’s better to expect the worst and hope for the best; yet, the fans have made a difference so far that is truly beyond measure.
