Lucifer season 4: Why The CW is the perfect home for it
CarterMatt has already reported on the upsetting news of it’s cancellation so now, we’re looking ahead towards what could be the future for the series. Specifically, we’re here to kick off a campaign for the series to end up at The CW for a fourth season, and we really do think that there is a lot of logic in this idea for a number of different reasons.
1. The CW has saved shows before – Think back to Supergirl, another series based on a comic-book IP. While it wasn’t “canceled” per se over at CBS, it was moved to a network that was deemed to be a better fit. This makes more sense than a streaming provider, given that Netflix and Hulu don’t actually save shows anywhere near as often as it may seem like on the surface.
2. Warner Bros. TV connections – The studio behind Lucifer is a partial owner of The CW alongside CBS. Therefore, doesn’t it make a lot of sense to consider a move over there? It actually is financially more viable there than it was at Fox. Of course, there’s also the DC Comics connection to go along with it!
3. The ratings work out well for The CW – If Lucifer can get even just three-quarters of the 0.8 in the 18-49 demographic it averaged for season 3 (in terms of live viewers), it’d be a big hit over there. So long as it averaged a 0.4 and the budget was right, it would be easy to imagine the show sticking around.
4. The CW is adding two new hours on Sunday – You could pair up Supergirl and Lucifer on Monday nights, or potentially use Sunday for Lucifer and Legends of Tomorrow — demons and demon-hunters (hey, Constantine is around) on the same night. What’s not to love? There’s room in the lineup for more shows and Lucifer already has a dedicated audience.
5. More CW goodwill – Imagine just how much praise they’d get from Lucifer fans for this?
