Saturday Night Live cold open: Ben Stiller, Stormy Daniels, and Donald Trump
What they chose to do was bring back Trump, but also chose to bring back Ben Stiller as Michael Cohen –for some reason, this impression continues to work even without Robert de Niro there to play his own version of Robert Mueller. Meanwhile, you had an appearance of Kate McKinnon playing a version of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. This wasn’t her best impression that we’ve seen her do but some of the lines in here was certainly fun.
Now, let’s talk a little bit about random but wonderful cameos — somehow, SNL has made a meal out of its Jimmy Fallon / Jared Kushner impression, even though Jared has just about zero personality at all.
Now, the most surprising cameo of all – Stormy Daniels. We thought it was something that could certainly happen in theory, but we’re still surprised that it did. Stormy appeared at the end of the sketch in order to claim that she’ll stop when Trump resigns … while also warning him that there’s a storm a-coming.
Obviously, this SNL cold open drifts far from when they used to spoof both sides of the political spectrum; yet, at this point they’ve virtually lost most of their conservative viewership anyway. If they’re going to do a sketch like this, they better swing for the fences and that’s what they did.
