When is Last Week with John Oliver returning to HBO?
Unfortunately, there isn’t any episode on this weekend as the series is taking a little bit of time off after airing a nice run of shows through the month of April. We know that there are many people out there (especially people on Twitter) who complain relentlessly about the hiatuses for this show; to that, we respond that this is a very hard series to make, especially with the amount of writing that goes into just about every piece that is done. There’s a lot of research that goes into it and then beyond that, they have to do virtually everything that they can in order to make the show funny.
When the show comes back, there will obviously be a great deal of story to discuss in between Ronny Jackson, the White House Correspondents Dinner, the latest Trump Rally, and a whole lot more. If we had it our way, though, there are two subjects that Oliver would really put the focus on:
1. The coal lawsuit – We still haven’t gotten the update piece on what was a pretty long, drawn-out legal battle. While Last Week Tonight seems to have emerged victorious in his battle against Bob Murray, it does not seem as though he has been in a place just yet where he can actually open up and discuss more of what happened at length.
2. Puerto Rico – There’s already been a segment on the territory, but this happened before the Hurricane last year. We just wish that there’d be a lengthy segment here to remind everyone that there are still issues happening there and that, unfortunately, not enough people in the government seem to know or care.
