MasterChef Junior season 6 episode 10 review: The most shocking elimination this season
As someone who doesn’t like egg yolks, this probably would’ve been our least-favorite episode of the entire season as a judge.
One of the things that was rather surprising about this episode was seeing how some of the tables turn for some of the contestants who have been pretty solid for most of the season. Take, for example, Ariana, who we’ve considered to be the biggest threat to Remy’s crown this season. Meanwhile, Sammy had been pretty solid for most of the season and we felt like he had the potential to make the top six.
Here’s the real issue — the moment that Sammy said that he was extremely confident and didn’t think the ravioli would be too difficult — these are often famous last words for many contestants. His pasta just didn’t work out and these two were in the bottom with Anthony and Henry. What made this even more devastating here was the fact that the judges opted to keep just one person in the bottom four. This means that we’ve lost some of the strongest contestants this season before making it to the top 9. Shocking. We like to consider this a show where you can telegraph some of the winners but we didn’t see this coming. For Sammy based on the edit maybe, but Ariana? We thought she would find a way to squeak by here and compete for the finale down the line.
Yet, as shocking as these eliminations were, what we do think is that these are necessary from the standpoint of reminding you as viewers that nobody on this show is ever truly safe. That’s something that you always have to keep in mind.

MasterChef Junior tonight didn’t necessarily give us two of our favorite challenges, but in terms of drama this was one of the most exciting episodes the producers have delivered. Do we think that Ariana’s past history should have been considered when the judges were making this decision? Sure, but the problem here also is justifying keeping her if her dish truly was one of the three worst on the night and there was no difference between hers, Sammy’s, and Henry’s.
