One Day at a Time season 3 renewal

There are a few different stories worth getting to within this particular edition of our CarterMatt TV Quick Hits, but let’s kick things off with some great news for fans of Netflix’s One Day at a Time — you are going to be getting more of the show coming up in the future!

Today, the streaming service confirmed that a third season of the series has been ordered, and that it will run for yet again thirteen episodes. This news comes amid many calls to bring the show back for its representation of diversity and also its bold sense of humor. It is critically acclaimed and even if it doesn’t get attention by the Emmys, it is likely that the new version of the classic series will get plenty of attention elsewhere.

As for some other notable news of the day…

Lawsuit against FEUD thrown out – In what could end up being a very important case down the line when it comes to the rights of real-life people to sue television shows for an unfair depiction, Deadline reports that a California appellate court has thrown out the lawsuit filed by actress Olivia de Havilland. The screen icon contended that the Ryan Murphy series presented an unfair view of her character, insinuating that she would gossip about other legends within her field. However, the court felt otherwise, suggesting that she does not have “the legal right to control, dictate, approve, disapprove, or veto the creator’s portrayal of actual people.”

Is Steve Harrington dying on Stranger Things? – If you have felt that way, rest assured that you don’t have to feel that way anymore. Speaking (per TVLine) at the show’s recent PaleyFest panel, executive producer Shawn Levy had the following to say:

“Honestly, the day Steve Harrington dies is the day I walk off this show … I just can’t live in a world without Steve Harrington. And I think a lot of us feel that way.”

Maybe there will be a time in the future when Steve does die, but if it happens at the end of the series can’t Levy just walk off the show then?
