TV Madness 2018: Absentia, Timeless face off, close out Final Four
Welcome to another edition of our third annual TV Madness Tournament! This is a fun annual tradition here at CarterMatt where we have some fun, engaging battles between various shows looking to make it all the way to the final round on March 28.
Above, you can see our full bracket, complete with entries, their seeds, and start/end dates. Once you are within the bracket, the dates listed are when the previous poll ends and the next one begins! We’ve got a great group of shows taking part this year, with some newbies as well as others who have been a part of the tournament every single year. The voting rules are pretty simple — you can vote however often you would like on however many devices that you would like! If you are on mobile and you are having a problem seeing the poll at the bottom of the article for whatever reason, be sure to click to view the non-AMP version of the page at the bottom of the article.
For this edition of TV Madness, we’re wrapping up the final four! All signs point to this being a great showdown as two popular series in Absentia and Timeless each enter the fray in hopes of moving forward to the final round. The winner here will face either Outlander or The Brave, but at this point fans of these shows should be super-proud no matter what! Competition has been incredibly steep this year and it’s been wonderful to see all of the hype and enthusiasm surrounding some of these shows and their battle to be on top.
Now that we’ve set the stage for this showdown, let’s get to breaking down these entries further. Voting for this round remains open until Wednesday, March 28 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. Later that same day, the finals will officially begin.
Absentia (#7 seed) – Going into the tournament this year we knew there was a chance Absentia could make it far, given that it does have a devoted following and also a good reason to make its presence felt in the first year. The series streams on Amazon in America, and it does feel like there are some viewers out there still discovering it. Hopefully, this tournament helps with that — it’s a fantastic crime thriller with Stana Katic and many other wonderful actors, and to date it’s unseated such formidable foes as NCIS, Law & Order: SVU, and Hawaii Five-0.
Timeless (#2 seed) – We had equally high hopes here for Timeless in the tournament, given that this was a series saved entirely by the fans in the first place. The Abigail Spencer drama series is delivering great entertainment on NBC this spring, and so far it’s beaten out some very difficult opponents. After taking down the likes of Poldark, Scorpion, and Good Behavior back in the first few rounds, Timeless has had by far the most challenging road to the final four of any show.
