Lucifer season 3 episode 20 return date speculation, expectations
As now confirmed by Fox, Lucifer season 3 episode 20 is going to air come Monday, April 16. That date largely makes sense for a couple of different reasons.
1. There hasn’t been a press release issued for the episode – Typically, Fox tends to release these details in the weeks leading up to an episode. If, for example, Lucifer was coming back on April 9, there would be a little bit more information out there about it.
2. There are five more episodes to go this season – Season 3 (at least in terms of the episodes coming on the air) has 24 episodes total. This includes the season 2 episodes that were left over and aired during this season. If Lucifer returns on April 16, that gives Fox the ability to air the final five episodes consecutively leading up to a finale that we suspect will be on May 14. Note: There is no confirmed finale date just yet, but this is a date that falls in line to when some finales have aired in past years.
As for what we do want to see when Lucifer comes back on the air, much of that starts with a big question when it comes to Maze. What in the world is going to happen with this character next? In the closing minutes of Monday night’s new episode Cain approached her with an offer to help them both get what they want. She may have a way through him to eventually return to Hell. However, doing so could mean the betrayal of many of those close to her. How desperate is she to go back there? The upcoming episodes could lead to a very interesting debate when it comes to that subject.
Beyond that, there are also some interesting questions to ponder in terms of Lucifer and his own relationship to Chloe, especially given how Pierce has entered the equation and is effectively using her to suit his own needs. Things are going to get pretty complicated here and it does lead to a very important question — is it going to be possible for Lucifer to break the newly-dating couple up without putting all of his cards on the table? We love that Lucifer has created these two especially-tantalizing stories for the final episodes this season, coupled with all of the great drama surrounding Charlotte learning more of the truth about Lucifer and Amenadiel. The only thing that would make us happier is knowing that there is a season 4 coming.
