Should 911 get an early season 3 renewal?

Given that the first season just ended and season 2 may not premiere until the fall, in theory it may sound like it’s too early to start talking about a 911 season 3 … in theory.

Yet, this isn’t stopping us from speculating that such a renewal could be possible — and sooner rather than later. Networks often love securing some of their big hit properties in the long-term early on and in this particular case, there is a very clear reason to make a 911 season 3 renewal early: It offers up a chance for viewers to know that this is a series sticking around for a rather long time. In the early going of a show, one of the fears that can come along with watching it is not knowing whether or not there is going to be more of the show down the line. In this era where there are so many different shows and with that, so many opportunities, you often don’t want to get hooked on something that you are not altogether sure that you are going to be checking out again down the line.

With a show like 911, there is somewhat of a precedent for a series getting an early third-season renewal; for evidence of it, you really don’t have to look any further than what we saw with This Is Us. That series managed to get a season 2 and season 3 renewal while the show was airing its first season; while we wouldn’t argue that 911 has made an impact that is altogether equal to that show, it has done a rather-nice job in its own right of making its presence felt. There is something that is exciting about Fox having another hot property and, to go along with it, the series having such a great cast.

Unfortunately, much of this is more or less a pipe dream. While we do anticipate that a 911 season 3 renewal is going to happen, there is a good chance that it probably will not until we get around to the fall at the earliest.
