Call the Midwife season 8 premiere date hopes for BBC drama
Why is that? Much of that is really just connected to the way in which the series does things. They air the entirety of their season proper in January, February, and March, and then go off the air until Christmas Day. The more that you think about it and the more that this way of scheduling makes sense, at least when it comes to this show for a number of different reasons. For starters, this series works really well in the winter because it’s a great alternative when there is not anywhere near as much programming on elsewhere in the schedule. Beyond just that, it gives you just enough story to fulfill and leaves you hanging so that you still want more. It actually is important that you have time as a viewer to miss something be on the air and Call the Midwife does that. You get a good bit of it for around three months, and then it disappears and you are forced to wait for a good nine months for it to come back.
The good news is that Call the Midwife is a series that does have its future assured at least for a while. The BBC renewed the show, even before the start of this season, for a season 8 as well as a season 9. This is a consistent ratings performer for them and with that, they see no clear reason to slow things down at any point in the near future. It’s possible that there will be some more cast turnover before the end of season 9 just because that seems to be the way of things for this show. After all, as of late we have lost such performers as Emerald Fennell and Charlotte Ritchie but the series has somehow still found a way to press on — and we continue to think that it will do so no matter what. This is a series that will likely last until writer Heidi Thomas decides that we have made it to the end of the road.
