For everyone out there who loves Stephanie March and Law & Order: SVU, the following has to be considered great news! Today, NBC confirmed that March will be coming back for the upcoming 19th episode of this season as Alexandra Cabot.

This episode is entitled “Sunk Cost Fallacy” and at the center of the story is something rather simple: The hunt for an abducted woman as well as her young daughter. Eventually Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is put on the case and comes in contact with her longtime friend.

In a statement confirming the return of March, showrunner Michael Chernuchin had the following to say:

“It is a thrill to welcome Stephanie back to the SVU family, even for a short visit … She is, and will always be, part of SVU‘s DNA.”

This has actually been a good season when it comes to bringing back people who were previously a part of the series. Recently, we had the return of Tamara Tunie and some other faces from the past. We’d like to think that March’s return sets the stage for even more familiar faces in the future. Wouldn’t it be nice to see another appearance from Richard Belzer, or what about the most elusive return of them all in Christopher Meloni? We do think that Stabler will return on the series at some point, but that may not be until we get either a milestone episode, an arc that is super relevant to the character, or a possible series finale.

SVU continues to air new episodes on NBC Wednesday nights, and we’re going to be sharing some more information regarding some of these installments in due time.  Kudos to both March to doing this for her fans and also to SVU for continuing to honor its history — there have been so many great performers who have appeared over the years and we hope that many more will show an interest in stopping by at some point.
