Are Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4 renewal odds higher due to finale ratings?

Are the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4 renewal odds better than they were before, thanks solely to the latest season 3 finale ratings? It’s inevitable that any viewer would want to think so; in the end, though, it’s hard to say that the needle moved all that much one way or another.

Overall, the season 3 finale generated a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic (same as all season) alongside about 610,000 viewers. We’ve mentioned this a few times already but the Rachel Bloom series is actually up both in total viewers and the demo versus season 2; if there’s any strong case to be made for renewing the series, it is that the series actually improved year to year in a way that the majority of network shows do not. Is that the power of streaming, or some viewers waking up and realizing that this show is more than just edgy humor and catchy songs? Maybe it’s both.

All in all, expect The CW to make a decision on the future of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend by May. The network is already a little bit slower on some of their renewals than they’ve been in the past, so we don’t want to create any sort of undue expectation that they could have an announcement sooner rather than later.

Other ratings news

The latest eviction episode of Celebrity Big Brother generated a 1.0 rating in the demo, which is pretty decent for CBS on Friday given the competition. This show is making a good case to come back the next time the Olympics are on four years from now. It’s hard to say, though, that it’s doing so great that the network needs to change up their schedule every year in order to accommodate this. The two-hour Friday shows in general are just a little bit too much, especially when you’ve got so many different shows a week.
