Aunjanue Ellis leaving Quantico; will not be a part of season 3
This news was confirmed earlier this afternoon by TVLine, and it will probably be rather sad to some given that Ellis was a regular on the show starting with the very first season. She also had a significant role when it came to leadership within Quantico and the greater FBI at large as Miranda. The great news for Ellis is that she’s already got a prominent new role on the upcoming pilot Chiefs, which hopefully is going to make it onto the air for the upcoming fall season.
As for what Quantico is doing at the moment, they are still in the process of scaling the show back and changing up its structure somewhat for the third season. Michael Seitzman is now on board as showrunner and the series is getting a little less complicated and probably a little more similar to some other crime TV thrillers that are out there.

In terms of the cast, we know that Jake McLaughlin, Priyanka Chopra, Johanny Brady, and Russell Tovey are all returning. Meanwhile, Pearl Thusi and Yasmine Al Massari are both departing, and it has already been confirmed that Marlee Matlin is going to come on board as a significant part of the series. Hopefully, some of these changes are going to lead to giving the show somewhat of a chance of sticking around for another season. We’re reasonably worried about its future and we have been for a little while now. There’s been such a long layoff, and typically series that have this late spring premiere are not the sort that tend to get a lot of love in the ratings.
