The Orville season 2: Jessica Szohr of Gossip Girl new series regular
According to Deadline, former Gossip Girl actress Jessica Szohr is going to be a series regular on the upcoming batch of episodes slated to premiere later this year; unfortunately, there is not exactly an abundance of news out there in terms of who she is playing other than that she will be a crew member aboard the Orville. If you do want some other news, you’re going to have to wait until closer to the show’s premiere most likely.
While we don’t necessarily think that The Orville is trying to become like a Shonda Rhimes series with all of the secrecy, we do think that what they’re doing for the most part here is trying to build a little bit of suspense and discussion surrounding who she could play. There’s no guarantee that she will be taking on the part of a human character and there is a certain degree of intrigue that comes along with that.

There’s a pretty good reason for Szohr to choose The Orville has her first series following up her stint on Shameless, largely in that this is one of the most underrated series out there. We do think that critics were unnecessarily hard on the show right away, mostly because it wasn’t promoted properly by Fox; in the aftermath of all of the reviews and hype, we had here a fairly lighthearted space series that sought to pay homage to the great series of old as opposed to straight-up spoofing them. It had plenty of humor, but there was also some heart mixed in there.
There may be some more castings announced in the coming weeks, but we imagine that Fox will take its time. In terms of major series regulars, we don’t think there’s really a need to add too many more given the fact that there’s already a pretty great stable of crew members as is.
