NCIS: Los Angeles season 9 midseason spotlight: Sam Hanna
With that in mind, it is this proper goodbye that we think Sam should have with his family later this season. It’s at the top of our wishlist for him — this obviously would give us a chance to see a great LL Cool J performance, but beyond that, wouldn’t it be nice to get more of Sam’s family in the mix?
In addition to that, one other thing we’d love NCIS: Los Angeles to lean more into in the second half of the season is the friendship between Sam and Callen — they’ve had some really fun moments over the years and we think that Callen is one of the best people to bring Callen our of his slump. We almost want to see the two go on a bro retreat to unwind, only for there to be some other case that they take on midway. It’s a bit of a crime TV trope but shows like NCIS: Los Angeles do this very well.

It almost goes without saying given Hetty’s absence, but we want to get a few episodes that really emphasize their working dynamic in the second half of the season, as well. First and foremost, Hetty has to survive what she’s going through in Vietnam. Beyond, that, we want to get her back in Los Angeles. From there, have a case where they constantly communicate and bring us back to old times.
Of course, at some point along the way we want to see some more action! NCIS: Los Angeles wouldn’t be the show that it is without opportunities to see him kick some butt and take some names.
