NCIS season 15: What’s happening with Jack Sloane?

Maria Bello

Is Maria Bellow leaving NCIS so soon after she first arrived? That’s the question that Tuesday night’s “Keep Your Friends Close” raised to all of us watching..

In the closing minutes of the episode, what we saw, effectively, was her getting blown across the street in an explosion. This was a pretty big cliffhanger and it definitely looks as though she is in rough shape entering this lengthy hiatus.

Now that we’ve said that though, is there actually a chance that the character could really be leaving the show? That’s something that is rather hard to imagine. For starters, the show went through SO much effort in order to promote the actress joining the show — to kill her off now would be a gutsy move for sure, but probably not a move that many longtime fans of the series want to see.

In a more cut-and-dry sense, Bello signed a multi-year deal in joining NCIS so killing her off now really makes no sense … especially when there are so many mysteries out there that still need to be unlocked. Take, for example, learning a thing or two more regarding her history, the tin box, and the scars that she has. This is a series that already established her for the long haul.

Really, this is why we envision the cliffhanger turning out the way that it did — this marks an opportunity to show just how dangerous Gabriel Hicks is as a character also to raise the stakes surrounding the second part of the show airing in a few weeks.

Ultimately, we’re excited to see what the remainder of this season holds and also what this story is eventually going to build towards. There are some characters that we’re worried about at the end of the season — and, of course, we know that we’re losing Pauley Perrette at the end of the season. We have to look towards the future with that information in mind.
