Station 19: Grey’s Anatomy spinoff debuts first trailer

Station 19

ABC and Shondaland premiered the first trailer for the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, Station 19, and it will definitely bring the heat. The new series will follow the professional and personal lives of the men and women at Seattle Fire Station 19 that’s just three blocks from Grey Sloan.

During the trailer, fans were introduced to the show’s central character, Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz), a confident firefighter at Station 19 and the daughter of Captain Pruitt Herrera. We immediately see the bond they all share, including hooking up with each other. That’s when we see the team being called out for a fire which results in Captain Herrera and Andy’s father (Miguel Sandoval) being injured.

Cue Dr. Meredith Grey. As Andy’s father is brought to Grey Sloan, we see Meredith give the young woman some advice Meredith has been following for years, symbolically showing the torch being passed from one show to another. Meredith shows her to an empty room and allows her to cry, but only for a short time before telling her to put “her game face on.” It’s a touching moment, seeing two central characters share a brief moment in order to let one’s guard down.

As a result from the incident, the Captain has to step down, making Andy realize she wants to step up. Now enter in all the drama that can occur, such as a love triangle between Andy, a fellow firefighter, and former fling. At least we know the love drama won’t be lacking in this show.

From here the trailer shows fans that despite being a drama, there will be some funny moments between the crew. It’s a nice addition to the trailer after watching a minute and a half of non-stop serious stuff.

This series is all about showing the world what real heroes look like. They risk their lives without thinking and they love doing their jobs.

Overall, it got us interesting and intrigued by Shonda Rhimes latest show. We definitely be marking our calendars, in addition, to the Grey’s Anatomy episode that will serve as the backdoor for Station 19. We are also interested in seeing how this series will differ from similar shows like Chicago Fire.
