Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 12 preview: Will April Kepner recover?

Here’s the first surprise that we’ve got for you today: Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 12 is actually going to be airing next week! The majority of shows on the schedule are seemingly taking some time off starting on February 7, but ABC is stretching out the run of the medical drama for at least one more day. “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” is airing on Thursday, February 8, and early signs suggest that we’re going to get a chance to see April Kepner try to embrace a new role — in general, she just needs to embrace almost anything that she can after being put through hell in “Personal Jesus.” She’s suffering both a crisis of fame and a crisis of self — it’s understandable why she would be given what transpired on her watch.

Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 12 should mark a chance to move forward, given that her new goal is overseeing the passion projects of others. The synopsis below offers up a little more insight:

“Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” – April is in charge of the new Grey Sloan Surgical Innovation Contest, and the doctors are eager to start their projects. Meanwhile, Catherine’s old friend has a shocking idea for Catherine and Jackson; and Meredith treats a returning patient who inspires her project, on “Grey’s Anatomy,” THURSDAY, FEB. 8 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network, streaming and on demand.

Of course, ABC isn’t giving away too much here in advance of tonight’s episode; why would they, given the journey that is set to transpire with one Miranda Bailey? This episode will be the last one until the other side of the Olympics, so don’t be shocked if there is some sort of exciting / unexpected cliffhanger that takes place during it. Obviously, the powers-that-be (plus the production team) may want to give you something to look forward to coming up beyond just the upcoming firefighter-centric spin-off series.

We’re also curious about the Meredith story in this episode, even though it’s a little bit tricky to pinpoint just how excited we’re supposed to be without knowing who the returning patient actually is. We just hope that it’s someone who is reasonably memorable.
