When could a Poldark season 5 renewal announcement come out?
Basically, it was in April of 2017 when Poldark season 4 was officially confirmed by Aidan Turner and the BBC — we’re still months away from that, and we don’t foresee there being much of a sense of urgency to announce a renewal right now. Production doesn’t officially kick off for many more months and there are likely many other important orders of business for the show right now — such as continuing the post-production editing process to get the episodes on the screen. There could also be some other things to determine, including trying to finalize what the episode count could be.
One other thing to remember is this: It’s possible that we’re nearing the end of Poldark as a whole. There’s been speculation for some time that season 5 of the series could be the past, speculation that’s been furthered along by some of the comments made by Aidan Turner himself. He’s felt as though it’s possible that season 5 would be the best time to say goodbye; we know that you could easily stretch the source material beyond that, but if this is where everyone feels like season 5 is the right time to end the show, that is ultimately what we’re probably going to see happen.

For now, let’s just be excited about the fact that we’ve got a fourth season coming up and pending some sort of super-dramatic surprise, it’s likely that we will also get a season 5. We don’t think that Turner or anyone else would have spoken as much about it publicly as he has if there were no plans to keep things going for a little while longer.
Poldark season 4 should premiere this summer over on the BBC; meanwhile, it will also start up later this year on PBS.
