Luther season 5: Is Ruth Wilson returning?
Is Alice Morgan actually alive? Well, let’s pump the brakes a little bit on that. What we know is that Wilson was spotted alongside Idris Elba in the UK filming the show recently, and while CarterMatt doesn’t want to spoil anything in terms of the plot, it definitely seems like she’s there to film the show. She’s not just stopping by for a cup of coffee.
The questions about Alice are inevitably going to be raised given that all signs pointed to her character dying. While her (somehow) being alive wouldn’t be the most shocking thing in TV history (this happens with so many shows these days and this is what we’ve been secretly hoping for since her “death was revealed), we do still wonder if reviving her would somehow take away from much of the drama of the past. There are still some ways in which Wilson could return that don’t necessarily mean that the character is alive.
1. This could be a flashback – There’s certainly plenty of Luther and Alice’s life around each other that was never shared on television. After all, Luther is not exactly a show that does an abundance of episodes. There is still room for quite a few scenes here.
2. This could be a dream sequence – Another worthy suggestion and one that seems a little more likely than a flashback. John Luther could be full-on daydreaming, or this could just be a sort of Dexter situation where Alice shows up and ends up becoming almost some sort of messed-up conscience inside of John Luther’s brain. Either situation feels as though it’s reasonably plausible and with that, we’re intrigued to see just how the story for this season plays out.

There is no confirmed premiere date just yet for Luther season 5, but at the moment we’re hoping that there is a chance to see it on the air at some point a little bit later this year.
