Code Black: 3 things to remember before its Season 3 premiere
Leanne is going to adopt Ariel – If fans will recall, Ariel Braeden was the young girl whose parents died in the pilot and who Leanne, (after some obstacles) finally won over as an ally. The two grew even closer after a deadly virus hit the hospital. The result lead to Leanne taking the young girl in. So going into season 3 we want fans to remember that Leanne won’t just be thinking about herself now, but someone else. We know Ariel will have a prominent presence, especially after Emily Alyn Lind (who plays the character) was promoted to a series regular. It will also be an opportunity to see another side of Leanne; a motherly one. We know she was a mother once but we don’t know what she is like as one so her adopting of Ariel will bring a whole new side to her that we are excited to see.
Moon Bloodgood’s Rox Valenzuela joins the cast – Rox Valenzuela will play a paramedic and ride-along partner of Dr. Ethan Willis (Rob Lowe) as he takes a different direction in his medical career. This will be an intriguing direction for Dr. Willis after his contributions to the ER. He a mentor to many of the doctors so it will be interesting to see how the others cope with his absence and whether or not it will be felt.
It will also allow the show to venture out beyond the ER. By having the show be both in the ER and in the field it brings a dynamic that different from other medical shows on television. It allows for a variety of new stories to be told and gives the characters more to work with. In addition, it gives audiences a chance to see more depths of their favorite characters.
Dr. Malaya Pineda will not be returning – Melanie Chandra, who plays Dr. Malaya Pineda, will not be returning for Season 3. While we don’t know the exact reason for her departure, we are sad to see her go and can only hope it was her choice. Although Chandra is leaving, the show is getting some new faces who will play the new residents fans saw Jesse with at the end of Season 2.
The new characters will certainly bring their own drama to the hospital and it will be interesting to see how their lives will crash with the characters we already know and love. The only we have to do now is wait and see.
