Veep season 7 premiere date will not be until 2019
For those out there wondering about a Veep season 7 premiere date, know this: You’ll be waiting for a while. The final season of the political comedy starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus will not debut for viewers until the new year. The actress has been receiving treatment following a breast cancer diagnosis, and this premiere date gives her all of the necessary time in order to recover before returning to the set and delivering a little more of her trademark brash, witty humor.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Matt Walsh confirmed this news while also noting that the cast is continuing to offer Louis-Dreyfus support:
“We’ll start filming in August and it will air in 2019 … We’ve seen [Julia], she’s done some table reads [and] she’s doing well.”
The support that we’ve seen the entire Veep family offer Julia during this break in filming has been nothing short of remarkable. It’s another reminder of how close everyone gets during production and also just how much they look up to Julia as a leader. There’s a common expression in entertainment that the person at the top of the call sheet is often the one to set the tone for the entire series. When it comes to Veep Julia is the clear heartbeat of the show and she inspires everyone with her energy. There’s something really fun about how likable she is, especially in contrast with just how spiteful and harsh Selina Meyer often is on the show.
While you wait for more Veep, the good news for HBO is that they have a ton of other great comedies out there that they can bank on some of their viewers checking out. The list includes such series as Silicon Valley, Ballers, and Insecure along with Crashing and Divorce, which are currently airing on Sunday nights. (There are also plenty of great dramas out there, but this article is a little more focused on the funny.)
