Don’t count on a Wisdom of the Crowd season 2 renewal after tonight’s finale
While the CBS series has not been officially canceled as of yet, the network opted late last year to not extended it beyond the initial 13-episode order. That’s not a great sign, and neither are the show’s ratings. Through the first season the series averaged only a 0.9 rating in the 18-49 demographic. If Wisdom of the Crowd aired at 10:00 p.m. Eastern rather than 8:00, that would probably be a number to merit some future consideration. As it is, though, it’s a bad sign for the show’s future.
One of the main reasons why expectations are so much higher for CBS Sunday nights at 8:00 is because this is the timeslot that the network can benefit from the NFL lead-in the most. Viewers can stay on CBS following the NFL game and 60 Minutes and some of these ratings trickle down to other shows. We’re honestly a little bit surprised that the network didn’t move away from Wisdom of the Crowd during the season so that they could offer a little bit more support to some of their other programming.
Are there other problems standing in the way of Wisdom of the Crowd, as well? Absolutely, with one of the biggest ones being allegations in the direction of star Jeremy Piven from his past. As tough as it may be to some of his co-stars, we wouldn’t be surprised if this was also an influencing factor in CBS deciding not to move forward with the show. The ratings probably were not good enough for the show to last to begin with, but having any sort of potentially bad PR tied to a show just makes its future that much murkier.
One way or another, CBS will announce the future of Wisdom of the Crowd later this year — May tends to be the time when all official renewals / cancellations are made. The one scenario we could see Wisdom of the Crowd coming back in is if CBS was trying to either have a midseason replacement show or if they want to bank more on summer shows.

I think this is a smart show. Don’t cancel it. There is so much room to expand the story lines.

I love this show! Cannot believe they would consider cancelling because of his past. Good thing were not all held to that standard. I’m sure we were all immature and stupid at some point in our life.

Such a good show, I still love Jeremy Piven, since the show will not be renewed they could have given us 2 hours and solve Sophie’s murder, I think your a bunch of jerks to end such a good show this way??
