Supernatural spin-off Wayward Sisters’ future not decided yet; CW head optimistic
Could Wayward Sisters be picked up to series? That’s something that is firmly up in the air right now; yet, at least know that the series has the stamp of approval from the man at the top.
Speaking (per Deadline) while at the TCA Winter Press Tour this morning, CW programming head Mark Pedowitz did make it clear that he had nothing but positive things to say about Wayward Sisters based on some of the material that he’s seen so far:
“I’ve seen it, I like it but the fans determine … Nothing is perfect but the real question is whether fans will go watch it if the boys aren’t in it. I don’t know but it works, the characters work, Kathryn Newton is a real star, the actress who plays Donna (Briana Buckmaster) is hilarious.”

While it’s obviously going to take a great deal of time in order to learn one way or another the future of Wayward Sisters, we’re probably going to start to get a pretty good inclination of what viewers think in a very short period of time. Remember that the backdoor pilot airs on Tuesday, and with social media being what it is now viewers have a tendency to make their voice heard — and quickly. These are not people who are going to hold anything back and will likely be very candid when it comes to some of their thoughts on the episode. We’re optimistic right now just because we like many of the characters and the concept already has the soul of Supernatural.
As for the future of Supernatural itself…
The answer is the same as it always is. Pedowitz still sees no ending in sight, provided that the ratings remain good and stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles continue to want to be a part of the show.
