The Blacklist season 5 finale cliffhanger already being planned

Is it too early to start getting some Blacklist season 5 finale news? CarterMatt doesn’t think so, given that this should fuel the fire all the more in hopes of getting a season 6 over on NBC. This is all mostly a matter of getting the word out there that there are some great reasons to be excited about the show’s future.

So what do we know about the Blacklist season 5 finale? In terms of concrete information, not that much … other than that there is an epic cliffhanger being planned out that will leave some people out there screaming for more of Liz and Reddington. Here is what executive producer Jon Bokenkamp had to say on the subject (for now) to Entertainment Weekly:

“We have a great cliffhanger, and a big ending for the season in mind that I think is going to be really compelling … It’s not what we imagine the end of the series to be.”

We spoke with Bokenkamp earlier this season, and he also told CarterMatt that his plan for the show was to extend beyond the end of the fifth season. Obviously, there is a plan that he and the writers have had in the works for the future of the series on NBC for a rather long time. As for what that specific plan for the cliffhanger could be, it wouldn’t shock us if it pertained to the contents of the suitcase — while it seems as though that story is on the back burner for now (the secrets within the suitcase seemed to have died with Tom), there are obviously some ways in which it could come back at some point in the future. You have to keep your eyes peeled for a little more information to come out in regards to that near the end of the season. There’s a good chance that there will be another devastating Reddington/Liz secret coming out — we still are a firm believe in our impostor theory that Reddington may not be Liz’s father, but instead he’s a man posing as Reddington.
