New tonight (December 23): Frozen, Last Ship cast members’ Hallmark movie, Ten Days in the Valley
Beyond sports, though, there are a few different things that you should consider watching if you got the time — or are a fan of Travis Van Winkle and Bridget Regan from The Last Ship.
Christmas Getaway (8:00 p.m. ET, Hallmark Channel) – It’s a Hallmark movie so in that sense, you know what you are going to get — a sweet, earnest, at-times emotional, and entertaining way to celebrate the holidays. It’s also a chance for Last Ship fans to see two of the show’s stars in an environment that they are not used to. Regan plays a travel writer, one who may end up getting more than she bargains for when she becomes double-booked on a trip with a widower (Van Winkle) and his daughter. We imagine that romance could eventually ensue.
Before you watch, we highly recommend that you check out the recently-deleted Saturday Night Live sketch mocking Hallmark original movies. It’s both incredibly accurate and also incredibly funny.
Frozen (8:00 p.m., Disney Channel) – Odds are if you have children you’ve already seen this movie about three hundred times; yet, it’s a great thing to put on TV while you’re watching last-minute Christmas presents or you want to entertain the kids while you make some hot cocoa. If you just don’t like it … well, let it go.
Ten Days in the Valley (10:00 p.m., ABC) – The pretty-much-canceled Kyra Sedgwick series is going to continue its Saturday burn-off this weekend. If you’ve enjoyed the series so far there’s a reason to keep watching — just don’t get any false hope that it’s sticking around. If a network is airing a show on a Saturday, and two days before Christmas, that’s a sign that some network executive is getting ready to cross you off the list.
Happy holidays! We’ll say it many times from now until New Year’s, but we remain incredibly grateful for all of your support. Without readers like you it would be impossible to be able to continue writing about the great content that we have a chance to share with you.
