Riverdale season 2 episode 10 return date for KJ Apa, cast
Following tonight’s episode, which is sure to be crazy and contain quite a few different twists, you’ll see the KJ Apa – Cole Sprouse series back with more new episodes starting on Wednesday, January 17 on The CW. We’ve still got more than half the season to go, and that means plenty of time to dive into some more surprising storylines.
So far through season 2 we imagine that The CW is more than elated with the success of the show. The first season turned out to be enormously successful on Netflix which led to, in turn, more viewers checking out the show live. To date, the second season is averaging a 0.6 in the 18-49 demographic and over 1.6 million viewers. These are both increases of more than 45% from where the show was on average during season 1. Note that these are only the live viewing figures, with there being more people checking out the show after the fact. We anticipate many of those viewers will stick around for the back half of season 2. It probably goes without saying but Riverdale seems like a lock for a third season. It’s got the ratings, the social-media buzz, and the streaming performance to justify it sticking around for a while.
If there is any concern that we have with the show at all, it’s that in doing at least 22 episodes this season Riverdale is running the risk of making it too hard on new viewers to catch up — a benefit of doing only 10-15 episodes a season is that you can create a smaller, tighter narrative and it’s easier to binge-watch. We’ll see what happens when Riverdale does return for that inevitable third season.
One of the most surprising news stories of the year was the Sabrina-based spin-off / companion series going onto Netflix rather than The CW — something that we felt was a given. We don’t think that this will have any impact on Riverdale, but that show is also something interesting to watch.
