NCIS season 15: Rocky Carroll directing — again!

NCIS

For those of you who love it when actors go behind the camera, you’ll probably love this NCIS – Rocky Carroll news. The man behind Leon Vance is stepping into the director’s chair — again!

In a new post on Twitter, cast member Emily Wickersham (Ellie Bishop) confirmed that Carroll is set to direct his second installment of the season after previously helming “Skeleton Crew” earlier this year. This episode will air in 2018, though the precise timing of it remains to be seen. Carroll has stepped more into the role of director in recent years and this would mark the sixth episode of NCIS that he has had the honor to direct. It all started just a couple of years ago with “We Build, We Fight” and he’s become a fairly regular part of the rotation ever since.

For those wondering, directing an episode of TV is no easy feat and that’s especially true for actors who try to pull double-duty with the role. For starters, you have to schedule things out to do both the acting and directing side of things, and beyond that it takes a substantial amount of research to even get into the position where you can direct. There’s a lengthy post-production process for each episode so you also have to factor in some time for that. There’s a reason why actors tend to only direct a couple of episodes a season at most — it’s a lot of work! The majority of actors who do this only tend to direct one — Carroll is already going above and beyond in that sense.

We would imagine that the NCIS filming crew in California is going to be getting ready for their holiday break soon, just as we’re also gearing up for the final episode of the series itself for the calendar year. This installment, entitled “Double Down,” is airing on CBS in just a matter of days now — if you want to see a preview of what you can expect to see over the course of it, you can do that just by heading over to the link here.
