Jersey Shore Family Vacation: Why is Sammi missing? Snooki wants her back

The premiere of Jersey Shore Family Vacation is airing on MTV in 2018, but for now one question is on the minds of many: Why is Sammi missing? Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola was an original cast member and was around for each one of the first six seasons. She was a huge part of the storyline when the show was at its ratings peak.

As for the reasons why she’s not currently involved, CarterMatt has heard two different rumors: She may be angling to be a part of Big Brother: Celebrity Edition, and she may also be looking to avoid her ex Ronnie Magro. The relationship between the two was toxic beyond words and it’s easy to imagine why she would probably not want to get sucked into that vortex again when it caused her nothing but trouble over the years.

While Sammi herself hasn’t addressed the rumors, her former co-star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi made it clear that she’s still rooting for her to make a return. Speaking on her podcast It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey, the reality star (per Entertainment Weekly) had the following to say:

“Everyone’s asking why Sammi’s not doing it. You have to ask her that — I’m not gonna speak for her … But Sammi is just in such a happy place that I feel like she doesn’t want to jump back into that drama if it does happen. And being that there was a lot of Ron and Sam drama when we did film, it was just really hard on both of them. So I just think she doesn’t want that anymore.

“…We’re all begging her to come back on the show. It’s really up to her. Everyone pray that Sammi comes back, because I feel like she might change her mind. So Sam, if you’re listening, come to the show. Like, stop being — stop it. Stop it right now before I spank you.”

We could easily see Sammi deciding to jump on board at the last minute, but we imagine that a lot of it could have to do with whatever the format of the show is. Given that so many of these cast members are now married and in some cases have kids, are you really going to throw them into the same house and have them work at the same tee-shirt store? It feels like this is a show with a very different vibe and maybe Sammi won’t be thrown that much into the Ronnie vortex as in the past.
