Gotham season 4 episode 11: Cameron Monaghan back as Jerome
How much of him will you see? The Gotham season 4 episode 11 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below details that you’ll at least get a teaser of the character by the end of the episode — possibly setting up a run for when the show returns:
Things get complicated for Gordon, Sophia and Penguin when Carmine Falcone (guest star John Doman) comes to town. Alfred tries to get through to Bruce once and for all, while Nygma struggles to gain control over The Riddler persona and Tabitha attempts to make Grundy remember his past. Meanwhile, a familiar smile resurfaces in Gotham in the all-new “A Dark Knight: Queen Takes Knight” fall finale episode.
For the record, Monaghan is listed as a part of the show’s guest cast — hence why we’re able to confirm that this “familiar smile” is in fact that of Jerome. He may not even be the priority of the rest of the episode. For example, maybe Carmine Falcone coming back is going to put an end to the near-constant drama that is going on with Jim Gordon, Oswald Cobblepot, and Carmine’s daughter Sofia. It’s a little too rudimentary to refer to this as a love triangle, but there are similar emotions at play here. Sofia has done the best she can trying to make both parties feel as though she cares about them and that she has their best interests at heart. Maybe she can come across at times as a peacemaker, but by no means is she making any of these moves out of pure charity — she is looking out to preserve her own self-interests just as much as anything.
No matter what happens in this episode — the Grundy / Tabitha story is interesting mostly because of its tragedy — let’s hope this Gotham episode ties up some loose ends. After it airs, there will be no more episodes until we get around to the new year. Fox has yet to announce their return date for this show. This Jerome tease could, (in theory) be the only thing we get for a while.

Monaghan’s return should help to boost the ratings. The night change didn’t help, but Gotham needs some help if a fifth season is to be ordered. Bruce isn’t quite old enough to be a full fledge Batman yet. 1-2 more years are needed.
