Media creates useless Game of Thrones controversy out of Jason Momoa photos

Jason Momoa

Do we want to see Jason Momoa back on Game of Thrones? Sure, mostly because Drogo was an awesome character during the first season.

Yet, there is a pretty clear difference between wanting something to happen and it actually happening. That is something that the some of media seems to be having a hard time grasping. The are a number of rumors starting to circulate that Momoa is (somehow) coming back onto the HBO show just because he posted a series of photos on social media recently featuring himself alongside his former co-star Emilia Clarke … as though that means anything. The two were not on the Game of Thrones set, there were no costumes, and there was no talk about Drogo (who has been dead since the first season) coming back.

Yet, here we are. Ugh.

Of course the reason the media gets those rumors going, (especially the rumor-hungry British press) is for the sake of driving traffic. The real truth of the matter is that even if Momoa was coming back, there is almost no way they would know about it unless they’ve somehow hired a mole to infiltrate what is becoming the Fort Knox of TV sets. Game of Thrones and HBO have made getting scripts for the final season a near-impossible task, even for the actors who are a part of the show. For the media to know anything here is almost impossible and if they did, HBO would probably send an Ice Dragon in their direction.

So pending some sort of odd cameo appearance or some other needless flashback, we don’t see a Momoa reprisal happening. Remember that there are only six episodes left in the entire series. Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are not in a position where they are trying to fill time in their episodes. There is only so much room that they’ve got in their scripts and they have a lot to wrap up. That means likely keeping everything in the present and honing in the story on the important members of the current cast who are there.

What do you think about the idea of Jason Momoa returning?

Would you rather just see him in a prequel series or something of the like? Sound off now in the comments!
