Star Trek: Discovery episode 10 return date confirmed by CBS All Access
CBS All Access has now confirmed that following a hiatus (which will begin on Sunday after episode 9 is available for streaming), episode 10 of the series entitled “Despite Yourself” will be available on Sunday, January 10 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. It’s such a strange time to launch a show (in the middle of the hour), but maybe this has something to do with NFL playoff scheduling.
While CBS All Access does not make any of the ratings information available for Star Trek: Discovery, all early estimations suggest that the show is a major hit for them. It’s fueled record signups and the series already has a season 2 renewal.
Now that we’ve said all of this, we’re not sure that a show on a streaming property taking a hiatus like this is the right move. It’s a little different for network shows given that they’re all a part of a much larger cable package, but here, it’s possible that for some people where they’re charged a month’s subscription, they just watch one or two episodes based on when it’s released. The subscription model makes hiatuses a little bit trickier since it often forces consumers to buy more. If you’re a patient viewer, you do still have the option of waiting until early next year, buying a month’s subscription, and then binge watching the series. This is one of the flip sides of a model like the one that CBS All Access is employing here.
If there is some good news about the return date, it’s this: At least CBS All Access is not forcing you to wait until the spring or later to see the remainder of this season. It’s a fairly short hiatus and you should be able to still remember everything that happened during the first half of the season.
For the record, we do hope that they keep After Trek going as an aftershow — we’ve been a fan of host Matt Mira for years.

CBS will air Star Trek: Discovery’s last episode of 2017, “Into the Forest I Go,” on Sunday, November 12th. After it airs, fans will have to wait until the new year to see what happens next. Fortunately, the hiatus won’t be that long: the show will return on January 7th.

January 10 is not a Sunday!
